Enhance your life by seeing the mystery in the mundane.

December 02, 2014

Real quick. I was having trouble with my contact lens and had to stop wearing it. It was a simple case of red eye that not a single doctor could help me with. Each recommended something different, “Clean your eye with baby shampoo”… “Use a warm compress” … “Try dailies ” … “Consider laser surgery” … Try lenses that hold water in them…” “Take fish oil” … I looked into every option. I hated wearing my glasses everyday. Hated it. Finally, after two long years of wearing them, by simply combining some of the options my eye got better, and I could wear my contacts again. I questioned: why did it take two years … why didn’t a single doctor tell me to combine the options. I tried figuring it out so that I would be in control. But then I remembered what a wise teacher of mine once said, “Life is not a problem to be solved but a mystery to be lived.” I embraced wearing my contacts again without understanding why, because the truth is, I’ll never know. Like they say at McDonalds, “I’m lovin’ it.”
